seed planted
soil warm
sprout bowing
wind rain snow
and wild beast
threaten
still you
stand tall
against the
war of words
accusing you
of naivety
of simplicity
of being
in the wrong place
with the wrong ideas
dancing frivolously
singing your own song
greedy for praise
inside afraid
choices fraught
decisions judged
sleep painful
friends a few
sympathetic words
each morning
as a dew
still you hold
your child’s hand
and lead him
to the promised
land

  • Poe & Penmen says:

    Anger fueled defiance.
So easy tho think anger is always explosive and in your face, when it can be a longer burning rumble that lifts and swells for months or years; it can be the heat that keeps you, your idea, your purpose alive. So often people will try and crush us or our ideas or those around us, and the anger that generates can move us to action to defy that public opinion and be determinedly defiant.
