raising a hand
whether meaning or bright
those who go down to the earth
relenting

first in hubris then in silence
first bright as sun
then wind whispers
speaking in grey

rise up their souls now
dear Lord
for they have given
we watched and listened
they all fell by the sword

they invaluable
sang out
for Pompous Kings
for Ideal of country
for love of children
and for us

wonder not whether nor if
today is to remember
for now again oh again
the soil is furrowed red
the smallest thing
we must do
is hold up our heads
and remember them
